Joe is an excellent word star style console based editor. 

1) download joe 

go to www.rpmfind.net 

ftp the following file or equivalent 

joe-2.8-106 RPM for i386

2) download ncurses

Joe requires ncurses, this is normally stated on rpmfind.net as part of the joe blurb

here is one of the latest releases

ncurses-5.0-7mdk RPM for i586
 

3) use kpackage (or equivalent) to extract these two rpm's ignoring all other 
dependency requirements
