What this does:
Puts approx 150 MB of StarOffice in /opt/Office51.
Puts a 2 MB 'link' in the home directory for the root user (
/root ) and
a 2 MB 'link' in the home directory for user (
/home/your-user-name )
so you can run StarOffice as root or as a user and not install
the whole
application twice. Repeat for as many users as on your
box.
1. As root, from the commercial packages disk in
eD2.4, rpm or kpackage StarOffice into /opt/Office51. You
have not actually 'set up' StarOffice yet.
2. Go to the directory /opt/Office51/bin and, at a
console, command ./setup /net. The /net option is
important here if you want multiple users to access StarOffice
on one box.
3. Following the StarOffice installation, provide your
root user information (name, phone numbers, etc.) and, at the
prompts, select the approx 2 MB installation to the destination
/root/Office51.
4. When set-up is 'complete', use the Kpanel
->Panel->Edit Menus to add a StarOffice kdelnk icon onto
the toolbar or just run /root/Office51/bin/soffice to finalize
the install onto /root.
5. Log off and back on into user mode.
6. Go to the directory /opt/Office51/bin and command
./setup, this time without the /net option.
7. The setup script starts as it did before, except this
time you will install the approx 2 MB version into
/home/your-user-name/Office51.
8. Again, add an icon as in step 4.
9. Finally, start StarOffice from the icon you created
or from /home/your-user-name/Office51/bin/soffice to finish the
install.
